Anastrozole, also known as Arimidex, is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibiting drug developed by Zeneca Pharmaceuticals in 1995 for the treatment of breast cancer in women. It is used to inhibit the synthesis of estrogen, making it effective in preventing estrogen-related side effects in male athletes using anabolic steroids.
Purpose and Effects:
- Breast Cancer Treatment: Anastrozole is primarily used in the treatment of breast cancer after surgery and for metastasis in women by inhibiting estrogen synthesis.
- Bodybuilding Use: In male athletes using anabolic steroids, Anastrozole prevents the conversion of testosterone into estradiol (aromatization), thereby avoiding estrogen-related side effects such as gynecomastia, water retention, and fat accumulation.
Dosage:
